JoAnn’s 50% off on entire purchase fabric. Fabric is serged, washed and cut 7″ square for 6.5″ squares. This is the pattern we will focus on.
Monday – 1/8/2017
Finished cutting the 6.5″ squares and put them all in the project box ready for the group to sew together.
K sewed the squares together. J sewed the rows together. 12 squares per row, 14 rows.
Measures out to 78″ x 91″.
The king bed is 72″ W x 80″ L. It’s preferable that the quilt hang down more on the sides. Since this is a quilt, it doesn’t matter which side is up or down, we will make this 91″ W and 78″ L. However… the seams are already pressed at 91 L so we will continue construction as if it were 91″ L and pay attention to existing seam direction.
The flat king sheet is 108″ x 102” . Finished quilt should not exceed those dimensions. Only have Queen battering in the stash. 90″ x 108″. Will need to add 12″ – 14″ to the side.

Update on borders: 1/18/2018
There must be a better way to doing borders without all this measuring. I still don’t know if those measurements will work. After some searching I found this video by Barb Sackel for Quiltwoman.com. Borders without measuring. I used this method. I also learned how to join the borders correctly.
After 1.5″ (cut 2″) black border attached, Top measures 81.5″ x 93.5″.
After 4″ (cut 4.5″) b/w floral border… check measurement 88″ x 101″
